About Monica Yong
Monica Yong is a seasoned finance and governance professional with over 30 years of industry experience and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Singapore. She oversees and manages a diverse portfolio of clients across a wide range of industries, including trading, investment, property management, manufacturing, education, fund management, IT consultancy, country clubs, non-profit organisations, and services. Her breadth of experience enables her to provide well-rounded insights and practical solutions tailored to varied business environments.
Prior to joining HLB Atrede, Monica served as Deputy Director of the Practice Monitoring Department at the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. In this role, she led and supervised inspection teams, working closely with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority to uphold audit quality standards. She played a key role in the development of the Quality Assurance Framework and was instrumental in implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing audit quality across the profession in Singapore.
Earlier in her career, Monica began her professional journey with Ernst & Young after graduating from Nanyang Technological University. She gained extensive audit experience across industries such as aviation, healthcare, retail, property management, and manufacturing. She subsequently obtained her practising licence and became an audit and tax partner at a local firm. Following this, she transitioned into industry as Group Chief Financial Officer of a regional healthcare group with operations in Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Monica is also a trainer in ISCA’s continuing professional education programmes and a regular speaker at professional conferences, where she shares insights on practice monitoring, regulatory developments, and audit quality.
